It’s always interesting how people find us! Some people stumble on Celynnen Photography‘s website on google or whatever search engine they like. Some find us via our Facebook page when one of their friends might have liked one of our status updates. Others, like David, find us via Twitter! They’re getting married very soon at the beautiful Soughton Hall, a place we know quite well since it’s where we earned our first award in 2008 and where we’ve done many other weddings (like Chris and Pauline‘s which will be online soon!) and I can’t wait as they’re a really fun couple and I’ll also be seeing other previous portrait photography clients!

For their pre-wedding shoot, we took David and Jen to Newborough Beach in Anglesey, one of my favourite places because you have the sea, the dunes, the forest (in case the weather isn’t that great..) wild ponies AND the Marram Grass cafe is really close and if you’ve never eaten there…you need to!

Luckily on that day, the sun was shinning and we had a really good time so can’t wait for the wedding!

It should be obvious to you by now that at Celynnen Photography, we LOVE weddings! Whether it’s me, Doug, Emily and of course, Nicola, the main reason why we do this is because we’re all equally as passionate about the day as you are. Personally, I love seeing friends coming together during the preparations and have a laugh and sometimes a tear or two as they talk about the fun and games of the past and the excitement of a new period in their lives.  The wedding ceremony was at a stunning chapel in Llanrwst and the celebrations carried on at the St-George’s Hotel, Llandudno , a hotel we know very well.

As it is tradition (except with Nickie’s and my wedding, but that’s another story..) there was a lot of family there to celebrate the couple and lot’s of pride as the bride looked absolutely amazing from head to toe (with her Jimmy Choo shoes!) But unfortunately, Greg’s dad couldn’t be there because he suddenly passed 1 week before the wedding. And though I’m sure there was a lot of sadness, you wouldn’t have known if you were passing by as the whole focus was on the beautiful occasion that was bringing people together that day. The reason I mention this is that I was beyond impressed with the strength of character displayed by Greg on the day. Being a professional photographer allows me to meet all sorts of people but I do not think I’ve met many people with the grace and composure of our groom that day and I felt truly privileged to be there.

From vintage styled country weddings to weddings looking for that extra elegant touch, Celynnen Photography loves them all! And I think it’s clear that Kiera and Ryan definitely went for elegance at their gorgeous wedding at the St-George’s in Llandudno!

We met over a year and a half ago at a wedding fayre at the same hotel so I was really excited to be there as we got to know each other well over that period of time, having done a family portrait and their pre-wedding shoot in Chester. It helps so much when it comes to being comfortable in fron tof the camera! It was also lovely to see their  beautiful daughter who has grown up so much since the first shoot we did together! Macie also clearly enjoyed being a flower girl!

Though the weather hasn’t been too kind to us so far this spring, the sun came out that day, allowing us to go out the promenade. Going for a little walk in town or elsewhere for pictures is always something I love doing because we often have people complimenting the couple and giving them good wishes. Doesn’t need to take that long either! 30 to 45 minutes is more than enough and we’ve even had times when all we needed was 10 minutes!

Anyways, enough talking, here are the pictures!

Both myself and Rebecca who was working with me on that day were very impressed with Kiera’s gorgeous dress and I’m sure you’ll agree that she looked rather stunning in it! It’s one of the many beautiful dresses available at Wedding Belles in Llandudno, who were, like us, winners at the Welsh National Wedding Awards! At Celynnen Photography , we love it when friends and family of clients come to us for their wedding! We met David and Sally at his sister Rachael’s beautiful wedding in Shropshire where we had so much fun! So we were very excited when Sally and David contacted us for their wedding at Nunsmere Hall, a venue we have worked at since 2009. But beforehand, we went to Delamere Forest for a pre-wedding portrait photography session. These sessions allow our clients to see that we can actually have a good time during these sessions and they help eliminate a lot of the apprehension most of us have. If I had a pound every time I heard: “I’m not photogenic” or “I’m so nervous!” I’d be a rich man, so allow us to put you at ease! We might ply you with hot chocolate like we did with these two, but nobody can deny they look rather happy

Can’t wait until the wedding!

It’s spring. I promise. It WILL get warmer. Until then, you can always keep yourselves warm by giving each other some lovely cuddles like Laura and Greg before their wedding at the St-Georges Hotel in Llandudno. When we propose the pre-wedding portrait sessions , we always suggest to people to chose somewhere they like or like the idea of spending time there, just to help take a bit of the nervousness some people have when they are having pictures taken! So Laura and Greg chose Laura’s parent’s backyard because that’s where he proposed!

So here are (hopefully) our last cold weather images!

Sometimes, opposites attract. Gavin LOVES rugby league. A LOT.
Siobhan, not so much.
But when you see them together it’s clear that they share many other interests!
One of my favourite things about weddings is when people really make their wedding day special by adding little personal touches. I remember one couple gave little lavender plants as a wedding favour which I thought was pretty cool while when I’m running, I’m usually seen the handmade “Survivor Bracelet” that Sandra and Amanda were giving away at their wedding last April. I’m not sure how much I’m allowed to say, so I won’t say much at all, but their wedding will clearly feature a lot of their personality and I just cannot wait! Just over 1 week to go!!

Proud supporters of the armed forces, we do a lot of military weddings here at Celynnen Photography and it was our pleasure when Jon and Jen, based at RAF Valley asked us to be their wedding photographer. Having done a pre-wedding shoot with them, we knew in advance that we were going to have a great time and that the wedding was going to be held in style! Jon was obviously wearing his his RAF uniform and while Jen looked gorgeous with  a 50′s inspired dress and gorgeous Jimmy Choo shoes!

After getting ready with her bridesmaids at Seiont Manor, with the help of Rebecca White of Rebecca Jayne Makeup, we made our way to the beautiful chapel in RAF Valley. It was full of beautiful stained glassed windows commemorating the efforts of the local airmen. The service was lovely and we are grateful to the Chaplain for working with us and being so welcoming!

And then the party went back to the hotel, after a few group shots on base for great food and one of the most memorable bridal speeches I’ve heard!

You might see more of Jon and Jen in their wedding outfits as we are considering a very special vintage / air force photoshoot! If we have enough nice comments on this post, it might just convince them!

Spring as sprung (sort of) which means family portraits, boudoir photography and pre-wedding shoots!

Pre-wedding shoots are essentially nice day’s out…you just happen to have a photographer with you! It allows us to get to know each other and for you to see how we do what we do!

Stefan and Stuart aren’t getting married (just yet!) but we did this shoot in the run up to the Gay Wedding Show in Liverpool with the help of Rebecca from Rebecca Jayne Makeup who also assists us on many of our weddings!

As you can see we also had their lovely dog on tow and that just adds to the fun! Couples sometimes choose to bring their pets or children or not and the location of the shoot is as varied as our couples! But one thing is sure is that by the end of it, you will know that you’ve chosen the right photographer for your wedding day!

Pauline and Chris are getting married at the beautiful Soughton Hall very soon and like all Celynnen Photography wedding clients, they’ve benefited from a FREE pre-wedding portrait session!

It’s always important to us that our couples have a connection with their environment and in this case it was at and around the Barbican Centre in London. It was really interesting because I learnt so much about the local architecture, something that Chris is interested in because of his work and me because of my interest in genealogy and history! It was also lovely to see how much they loved each other and remember their time here in their first flat (which you can see in some of the pictures!)

Portrait photography is much more than posing. It’s also a connection between people and places. And as you can see, there is definitely a beautiful connection between those two.
